Physical approaches to biological responses to radiation

量子細胞 図

This project aims to elucidate the mechanism of biological responses to radiation, such as mutation. Integrating advanced sources of polarizing or coherent lights, as well as quantum sensors, with genome techniques, we explore a novel research field of biochemical networks to regulate various cellular functions. Based on atomic-molecular physics, solid state physics of electronic property, and non-equilibrium thermodynamics of open system, we challenge to elucidate the mechanism of energy transfer in molecular complexes and various oscillation phenomena involved in cellular responses to radiation stresses not only by experimental approaches but also theoretical analyses, such as systems biology.
