Tokai Quantum Beam Science Center

The Tokai Quantum Beam Science Center is a local branch of Takasaki Advanced Radiation Research Institute (TARRI), which is located at the site of Nuclear Science Research Institute, JAEA, in Tokai village, Ibaraki prefecture. We are performing various research and development activities in the fields of basic science and technology by using the facilities in Japan and abroad which utilizes quantum beams such as neutrons, synchrotron radiation, laser etc. In the materials science field, we are developing advanced electron accelerators and lasers for gamma ray generation technique based on laser-Compton scattering, new separation/analyzing techniques by laser irradiation, all of which will contribute to promote researches with highly economic and social impact. Moreover, we are developing a medical RI manufacturing technology using accelerators, which contributes to development of new drug with higher therapeutic effects to protect people’s health.
