abstract
Angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) is now widely available to study various detailed microscopic electronic states such as band dispersion, Fermi surface, energy gap, and many-body interaction, owing to significant improvements on its energy and momentum resolutions. Since the synchrotron radiation in the vacuum ultra-violet (VUV) region is suitable with the aim of such high-resolution ARPES measurements, most advanced ARPES instruments have been typically developed in the third-generation medium-scale synchrotron radiation facilities. In this talk, we will introduce state-of-the-art synchrotron-radiation ARPES instruments developed at the Diamond Light Source, and also present futures perspective on ARPES instrumentations and techniques.
