Overview
To commemorate the declaration of 2025 as the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology, a special exhibition entitled "Entangle Moment: [Quantum, Earth, and Universe] × Art" will be held at the 2025 World Exposition, Japan this summer. The purpose of this exhibition is to allow as many people as possible to experience the three themes of the microscopic world of quantum, the earth and the universe that nourish our lives, and the vast universe through the collaboration of science, technology, and art.
Since 2025 marks the 100th-year anniversary of the discovery of quantum mechanics by humans, the United Nations General Assembly declared it as UNESCO's International Year of Quantum Science and Technology. In this memorable year, an exhibition entitled "Entangle Moment" will be held at 2025 Expo Osaka, Kansai, Japan to experience the world of quantum, earth, and universe that surrounds us through the collaboration of science, technology, and art.
In this exhibition, science, technology, and art will be introduced through the "Entangle" exhibition, from the microscopic world of quantum to the deep ocean, the Earth's environment, and the secrets of the vast universe.
Just as quantum research already has a history of 100 years, many scientists and artists from the past to the present have continued to explore the mysterious charms of "worlds that cannot always be seen". In any age, it is the creative endeavors that are repeated, supported by rich expressions of imagination and reliable technology, that open up the next perception. In this exhibition, the entire venue will be constructed with a spatial design in mind of the circular structure like the mythical "Ouroboros" that continues from the microscopic world to the macroscopic world, and the experience will expand the imagination of the past, present, and future.
In the exhibition area, a slightly mysterious space will be created where cutting-edge research results (Quantum computers, quantum sensors, quantum communication technology, ocean exploration including the Arctic, deep-sea research on the birth of life, and research on the secrets of the universe such as black holes and dark matter.) by Japanese universities, research institutes, and companies coexist with art expression. There, we will learn from various technological exhibits, explanatory videos, and XR (extended reality) exhibits, and while enjoying computer games and interactive experiences, we may witness the moment when new art expressions are born. Let's walk around the exhibition space slowly and think about science and technology, which are becoming increasingly inseparable from us in the changing global environment, and the "moments = past, present, and future" in which we live.
In addition, there will be a program of various stage events including talk events, workshops, and music events by researchers, artists, and cultural figures from various fields. We hope that this exhibition will be a place where visitors can reflect on the formation of this world, intuitively feel a new sense of values that spans science, technology, and art, and where questions, ideas, and next attempts will be generated for the next 100 years.
