QST hosted the “Mid-term Coordination Meeting for Regional Project RAS6086” on 2-6 Dec. 2019. This project started in 2018 with the aim of strengthening cancer management programmes in RCA member states through collaboration with national and regional radiation oncology societies.
The workshop started with remarks by the Project Lead Country Coordinator, Dr. Takashi Nakano, welcoming all the participants and expressing gratitude to the IAEA for their collaboration. Dr. Koji Noda, Executive Director of QST, also welcomed all the participants to Chiba. Mr. Koichiro Matsumoto, Director, International Nuclear Division Disarmament, Non-Proliferation and Science Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, described Japan’s contributions towards the peaceful use of nuclear energy. Dr. Kamal Akbarov, Consultant Radiation Oncologist at the IAEA, greeted the participants and expressed the IAEA’s continued commitment to the project.
Each participant reported the recent status of education and training in his/her country.
During the meeting, participants engaged in a vigorous and productive exchange of opinions that successfully benefited all the attendees.
