On Tuesday, December 12, 2023, we held a public symposium on the third term of SIP "Promoting Application of Advanced Quantum Technologies to Social Challenges" in a hybrid style.
This first symposium as SIP3 Quantum made a great success with a total of 405 participants (147 at the venue and 258 online) from related ministries, companies, research institutes, and academic organizations.
The symposium was started with greetings on behalf of the organization by Dr. Daisuke Kawakami, the Deputy Director General for Science, Cabinet Office, and Dr. Shigeo Koyasu, President, QST.
Following the opening remarks, Program Director ("PD") Dr. Tetsuomi Sogawa gave an overview of the project.
The research overview of individual Sub-program was introduced by Dr. Masahiro Horibe(Sub PD Quantum Computing)) , Dr. Goichiro Hanaoka (Sub PD (Quantum Security Network)), Dr. Takeshi Oshima (Sub PD (Quantum Sensing)) , and Mr. Shunsuke Okada (Sub PD (Innovation Creation Platform) ) respectively. The session included questions from the audience and responses to them.
The symposium wrapped up with a review by Dr. Akira Sudo, Executive Director in charge of SIP, Cabinet Office, and closing remarks by Dr. Hisayoshi Ito, Executive Director, QST.
SIP3 Quantum will use this symposium as a starting point and will continue to provide opportunities for discussion and collaboration with many of you.
QST, as a management and promotion corporation of SIP term 3 "Promoting Application of Advanced Quantum Technologies to Social Challenges", supports activities to achieve the missions of this project: "10 million quantum technology users in Japan", "Through quantum technology, production to 50 trillion Yen", and "Fostering quantum unicorn companies to create future markets". We will continue our activities to achieve these goals. We look forward to your continued support and guidance.
