System for accepting researchers, etc.

Through various acceptance systems, we accept researchers from Japan and overseas, promote efficient research and development, and promote human resource exchange. In addition, we accept trainees to train researchers and engineers involved in quantum science and technology.

The system for accepting researchers who intend to conduct research and development at the Institute is based on the Regulations for Accepting Researchers, etc... Please be sure to check the Regulations for Accepting Researchers, etc. In addition, we encourage the use of the cross-appointment system. In addition, researchers who conduct research and development at the Institute are required to write a pledge regarding misconduct in research activities. Please refer to the detailed regulations regarding the pledge to prevent misconduct in research activities at the National Institutes for Quantum Science and Technology

Qualifications of Researchers, etc.

Eligibility for acceptance is determined according to the classification of each host researcher. Please refer to the outline of the Researcher Acceptance System and the Regulations for Accepting Researchers.

In addition, the number of researchers accepted is limited to those who belong to an external research institute and are conducting research and development. Apprenticeships are currently open to students, as well as national and local government employees and employees of educational institutions.

Acceptance Classification

According to the classification of "Visiting Researcher", "Visiting Collaborative Researcher", "Trainee", etc., we accept people who intend to conduct research and development at the Institute, or those who intend to conduct practical training. To find out which category you fall into, please check with the researcher (person in charge of acceptance) of the Institute who wishes to accept you.

How to apply

When applying for a Visiting Researcher, Visiting Collaborative Researcher, or Trainee, it is necessary to have a meeting with the person in charge of the host about the research theme and how to proceed with the research, and then obtain a recommendation from the head of the department of the Institute.

After the meeting, please submit the necessary application documents to the person in charge of acceptance.

In addition, Students and Trainees are required to obtain the prior consent of their supervisor when submitting an application.

Visiting Researcher​
Definition A person who accepts the organization to obtain guidance and advice on research and development, etc.
Qualifications Those who belong to an external organization and conduct research and development, etc., and have the academic knowledge or experience necessary to provide guidance and advice on the research and development of the organization.

Visiting Collaborative Researcher​
Definition Persons accepted for the purpose of obtaining collaboration in research and development, etc. of the Institute

  1. A person who is engaged in Research and Development, etc. belonging to an external organization, etc. and has knowledge or experience necessary to provide guidance and advice on Research and Development, etc. of the Institute, or
  2. A person who is an implementing organization under a contract or agreement for joint research, commissioned research, contract research, facility/equipment provision, technical guidance, contract testing, etc.

Cross-appointment system​

Qualifications Staff who are mainly engaged in research work with the aim of maximizing research results at both institutions, and there is no risk of conflicts of interest

Cross-appointment system

QST encourages the "Cross-Appointment System*". This system will be implemented after concluding an agreement with QST. Terms and conditions will be decided after individual consultation.

In order to conduct joint research with our agency using this system, a joint research agreement, etc. will be concluded separately.

* The cross-appointment system is a system in which researchers are employed by two or more institutions among universities, public research institutes, and companies, and under a certain amount of effort management.

This is a system that allows students to engage in research, development, and education according to their roles in each institution.

Through the active participation of researchers and other human resources in basic research, applied research and development, demonstration, and commercialization beyond the walls of the organization, It is expected to constantly generate innovation.
