Remote Plasma Diagnostics Using INTERNET
A neutron diagnostic system on the JT-60U plasma has been successfully remotely-controlled via the INTERNET from Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), under the Japan-US Fusion Research Collaboration agreement. The neutron detector system was installed by LANL on the JT-60U tokamak in April 1994.
This remote diagnostic control via the INTERNET have demonstrated long-range, real-time remote control features, as a first step along the way to full-partner JT-60U remote collaborations from abroad.
It was found that a fast network with high communication bandwidth is indispensable. Also, network security precautions to maintain control system and data security are essential.
