We have been investigating environment-friendly biocompatible materials using radiation processing technology, and developing irradiation technique for evaluation of radiation degradation of organic materials.
In the R&D the environment-friendly biocompatible materials, we are aiming to develop a microstructure fabrication technology of biocompatible material such as polysaccharides and gelatin using radiation for the most advanced regenerative medical material owing to the realization of healthy longevity society. Ionizing radiation can modify the property of surface and internal structure of the material without using heavy metals and toxic chemicals. Radiation processing techniques are investigated using highly controlled quantum beam such as electron beam and ion beam.
