Beam stabilization technique
Beam stabilization technique has been developed at the cyclotron, which enables to produce a high quality ion beam, such as a microbeam with a beam size in the order ofμm or less. The cause of the beam instability shortly after start-up of a cyclotron, was revealed that temperature rise of the iron of the cyclotron magnet changes the magnetic field. A temperature control system, suppressing the temperature rise, succeeded in maintaining the yoke temperature and achieved the stability of the magnetic field within 0.001 % to meet requirement for suitable beam provision.
