量子神経キャッチ

神経細胞、グリア細胞、血管など様々な機能をもつ脳の細胞群は、相互に支え合いながら恒常性を維持しています。私達は、量子計測技術(ナノ量子センサなど)を駆使して、脳の健全性を維持する脳細胞の複合的な相互作用メカニズムや、それらが破たんした時に生じる脳疾患メカニズムについて量子計測技術を駆使して調べています。ここで得られた知見を、多くの脳疾患の診断・治療法の開発につなげるように、日々努力しています。

チームの研究について

研究の概要図

私達は、2光子励起レーザー顕微鏡を使って生きた動物の脳内の様々な細胞や病気の原因となるタンパク質を可視化して、脳の仕組みや認知症や脳卒中での疾患メカニズムを調べています。さらに、量子計測技術を生体脳実験に応用して、脳細胞の多様な状態を評価する方法を開発しています。

上の画像は、2光子顕微鏡を使ってマウスの脳内から観察した実際の細胞や組織の画像です。ニューロンやグリア細胞、血管など様々な特徴を持った細胞がいることが分かります。生体脳イメージング技術を駆使することで、標的の細胞を数か月間何度でも繰り返し計測することができます。それは、学習前後や疾患前後、治療介入前後での細胞の状態や役割の変化をとらえることに役立ちます。

さらに上の画像では、認知症の原因と考えられている凝集性のタンパク質を特殊な蛍光剤で標識してミクロレベルで可視化を行っています(これはQST独自の技術です)。このようなミクロな世界を観察する技術は、多様な細胞間の相互作用の理解に役立ち、脳の仕組みを明らかにできます。さらに病気の診断・治療方法の開発にも有効です。

このような技術を使って現在、主に以下の5つの課題に取り組んでいます。

1. 量子計測技術を生命科学や基礎医学に応用するための実験システムの開発

2. 免疫細胞の新規評価法を開発と認知症や脳卒中や癌の疾患メカニズムの解明
3. 脳微小領域の温度計測法の開発と脳卒中メカニズムの解明

5. 脳の水動態の評価系の開発と脳卒中への影響について
